I'm currently working on adding this feature for 0.9.9. Do you have any reference application here that provides good behavior using the ALSA plug-in. I tested twinkle myself and it just... crash... when switching device. My point is that once pulseaudio is already installed on your system, it takes over audio device management, you can still switch audio device through pavucontrol even if using the ALSA plug-in. I uninstalled pulseaudio once and tested with alsa only. Switching device with ALSA was effective. One bug I found is that when pluging/unpluging usb, the device index is incremented, which is not took into account in SFLphone and result in no sound.
