i think that this is the "pulseaudio way". the app just forwards the data on to pa and then the routing is handled by pa. i use the pama, the "PulseAudio Mixer Applet" for gnome, and am very happy with it. eg, you can switch a call from the headset to the main speakers live during a call. i believe that this remembers settings properly (not sure if this is a feature of pama or pa in general)
though i agree that the initial setup of the routings is a pain. with pama, you can only change the routings while the audio event is live. i'm guessing that there's a manual way to do it with pa, but in either case it's a pain On Tue, Sep 13, 2011 at 1:40 AM, John A.
