G.711 with either A-law or µ-law dynamic companding is supported, they are 
referred to as PCMA and PCMU,
respectively, in our list of codecs.

G.729 use is possible if you install: 
http://www.linphone.org/eng/documentation/dev/bcg729.html
Please note that the use of G729 remains governed by a patent license to be 
acquired from G729 patent holder representatives.
