I have used STN in the past with Cox @Home.  Turned it off because I had some problems 
with DNS, which he has changed his faq info to cover my problems.

Plan on getting it going again soon.

When a company says they don't support something, that just means they don't know, and 
you are on your own trying to get it to work.  It does work. 

Someone else will have to answer your NIC question. :-)
