[ShareTheNet] 16550

I've read that in order to properly use STN with an older computer, I would
need to purchase a 16550 serial card.  How can I find out if the built in
serial port on the machine has a 16550?  Also, can an internal ISA modem be
used just as easily as an external?  I've been reading about some problems
with PCI internals.
