Was sharing an Eicon ISDN external modem and a Practical Peripherals
33.6 external modem on a Win95 Server using Lantastic's Modem share.
All the client stations using modem share were able to access both the
ISDN modem along with 33.6 modem (of course, one a time as if the modems
were local). They were all able to dial out with their respective
softwares on both modems.

Setup and configured STN on another box using modem on Com1. Set client
workstations to tcp/ip and:

1) when using the external 33.6 modem everything worked fine, everyone
in and to the web, simultaneously.

2) when rebooting STN (with another boot disk with only phone number
changed for ISDN) and connecting external ISDN, it dials out, connects
and then gets "hangup" with connect time of .1 min. checked the name
and password and phone number and appears correct. Because if I just
change the phone number back to the non-ISDN number and reboot using the
33.6 modem it again works fine. And this is the same dial-in number
that was used with dial-up adpater. Even if I use the same exact
diskette with the non-ISDN number (which should work, one would think
only not at ISDN speeds, right?) that I had used with the 33.6 modem -
same short connect.

3) when reconnecting external 33.6 modem after ISDN - all is fine, once
again as expected.

4) when reconnecting ISDN back to Lantastic Server (simple plug out of
STN and back into Server - no reboots) - everyone can use it again on
the Lantastic Server.

5) even tried resetting ISDN modem (power out - power in) between moves
- still dials out but gets kicked off, yet works fine on Lantastic
Server.

Obviously would like to pipe through ISDN rather 56K (which will soon
replace 33.6 for test).

Questions:

1) Does STN work with Eicon ISDN modem?

2) Any additional configuration under modem settings that I've missed,
ie, init string other than ATZ (or nothing, as I had tried too)?

3) If modem dials out, "connect" and "got it" are returned messages what
else should I be looking for?

4) Maybe should try another brand of ISDN, any suggestions?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Arnie Rothenbaum
