I also had problems configuring an ISDN modem to work with STN.  
My modem was a 3com ISDN TA.  Everything seemed to work 
right; it even dialed the ISP correctly.  When it was connected, 
however, it disconnected almost immediately - the same problem 
you are having.  I troubleshooted the problem with John but finally 
had to go and buy a router because I could not afford to not have 
net access on the network for any longer.
