THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE E-MAILED OR POSTED!
I solved my own ISDN problem today. [See previous posts " External
33.6K modem works but not ISDN" and " External 33.6K modem works but not
ISDN - (Further Adventures)"]
In a nutshell, my external ISDN on com1 could dial-in but would
disconnect quickly after getting in. External 33.6 modem worked fine
but ISDN wouldn't.
Maybe this relates to you too.
Looked closer at the ISP Modem configuration. Noticed PPP and when
highlighted says something about LRP timeouts and passive mode.
Found the following under help "isp modem":
================ help screen begin ==============
PPP Options
PPP options change the behavior of the PPP connection. Usually, you
don't
have to worry about it and can leave this blank. If you do add options,
simply type then in separated by spaces like this:
passive mru 296
Many PPP options are available. Some of the more commonly used options
are:
passive Enables the "passive" option in the LCP. With this option,
PPP will
attempt to initiate the connection. If no reply is received from the
peer,
PPP will then just wait passively for a valid LCP packet from the peer
(instead of exiting, as it does without this option).
mru <n> Set the MRU [Maximum Receive Unit] value to <n> for
negotiation.
PPP will ask the peer to send packets of no more than <n> bytes. The
minimum
MRU value is 128. The default MRU value is 1500. A value of 296 is
recommended for serial links (40 bytes for TCP/IP header + 256 bytes of
data).
mtu <n> Set the MTU [Maximum Transmit Unit] value to <n>. Unless
the peer
requests a smaller value via MRU negotiation, PPP will request that the
kernel
networking code send data packets of no more than <n> bytes through the
PPP
network interface.
debug Display debug information about the connection attempt on the
Alt-F2
screen. This can also be viewed using a browser connected to the web
based
administration server.
================ help screen end ==============
So, add passive mru 296
to the PPP line, rebuilt the diskette, and whamo, I'm in.
Everyone getting in and all appears fine.
Good luck to all, I hope this helps.
Arnie
