Affnan,
I'm not very adept at Linux.
I made the changes "passive mru 296" per the help screen in STN.
Without this line I couldn't stay connected. I test both with and
without this parameter. It only worked with this parameter.
============= help screen begin ===============
"MRU value is 128. The default MRU value is 1500. A value of 296 is
recommended for serial links (40 bytes for TCP/IP header + 256 bytes of
data)."
============= help screen end ===============
It's possible that maybe just the word "passive" would have solved my
problem and thereby leaving the mru to it's default. The help screen
notes regarding "passive": "With this option, PPP will attempt to
initiate the connection. If no reply is received from the peer, PPP
will then just wait passively for a valid LCP packet from the peer
(instead of exiting, as it does without this option).
When I get a chance I'll test this theory and let you all know.
The help note "recommended for serial links" I took this literally, as
"a serial connection to my ISDN modem". Again, maybe I misunderstood.
Anyone else have knowledge on this topic?
