Dear Sharity Users,
we have released version 2.7 of Sharity today. We STRONGLY recommend
upgrading to ALL Mac OS X users because two serious bugs have been fixed or
a workaround added.
The following has been changed with respect to 2.6:
* Mac OS X: Added a workaround for a Finder bug where any directory on the
server could be deleted when you empty the Trash. The Trash is now
disabled on Sharity volumes.
* Mac OS X: Fixed or worked around (hopefully) all kernel deadlocks.
* Fixed a bug where opening a file in append mode could leave a big gap at
the beginning of the file when a file of the same name had recently been
removed.
* Improved CIFS browsing (Master Browse Server detection).
* Fixed rare crash of the Sharity daemon in file or directory creation
code.
* New NFS3 module allows files bigger than 4GB on operating systems with
sufficiently well-behaved NFS3 implementation. Mac OS X 10.1.4 is NOT
well-behaved, it does not support large files with any NFS server.
NFS2 is still the default frontend module in Sharity because it is so well
tested. The Unix installation script asks you whether you want to use NFS2
or NFS3. Please choose NFS3 if you need to access large files. If you
experience problems, please report them to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Upgrades for current users of 2.x versions are free, your current 2.x
license key works for this version, too.
