> Going with MPL only is IMHO a bad idea. First - Please don't construe this as a threat. Chose on your own - I'm just giving my insight. So if say x is chosen - and I dont contribute at least everone will know why. I've always been transparent, even blunt about my thoughts.
I pushed for a board to be formed so a license and other issues can be taken care of. This is happening. This is good. I want the board to decide on their own - so that the project can move forward and others can decide what, if, how etc they will be involved. If GPL only is chosen, I'm very likely not to actively contribute although I'll stay on as an interested party. If MPL is chosen, I'll likely contribute. If a mixed license of some X (LGPL or MPL) and some GPL is chosen, for me it will be about the same response as if all GPL were chosen because of the danger of creep of critical parts to GPL thus disabling LGPL. If a dual license option of MPL/LGPL + GPL is chosen - I'll just have to see the impact of this. The devil will be in the details. I don't oppose it in principle, but a lot will depend how exactly its dual licensed. Again - no threats. Just putting up front what *I* would do. But I encourage the board to chose on their goals. In the end - I just want the "goals" clear and finalized so I can make a decision on my involvement. So if you want rid of me - or most of me, GPL is the way to go. :) > On the other side MPL allows everyone to just rip off the code, and use > it in other contexts > without even giving anything back to the SharpOS project and the open > source community > and that is for me not acceptable. I perefectly understand your thoughts - but I strongly differ from this. IMO users should not be coerced into contributing back. Contributions should be voluntary. But then again - users are free to not use it at all. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
