Hello, I would like to introduce myself first before talking about the specific subject. My name is Michael, also known as grover. I'm a contributor to the SharpOS project. However today I want to strengthen the efforts of all managed operating system projects.
The SharpOS community would like to propose to form a new Managed Operating System Alliance, which would provide an open forum for news, discussion, sharing, standardization and promotion between all projects. Our communities are growing every day, but the disparate developments and constant fights between groups are hurting all of our projects. Our vision for this alliance moves our common goals into a neutral territory. Ultimately we can all code, design and build our vision of operating systems, but in my opinion we should support each other. We should try to standardize common interfaces for things, which are not covered by the CIL specs or the .NET Framework. A common ground for all of our efforts, like POSIX for the Unix world, would allow all of our operating systems to advance further. Finally we could all benefit from these common grounds as ideas and potentially standardized code developed for our operating systems could be shared. The alliance is open for all operating system projects to join, however we would like to limit membership to one or two contributors from each project in order to establish an atmosphere of trust and open discussion.
