To be more specific, I refactored the existing serial driver into the new
driver framework. Unfortunately, it somehow broke the DiagnosticTool and I
have not been able to figure it out. Maybe a second pair of eyes can spot
the problem?

In the mean time, I'd like to move forward and commit my changes back into
the trunk before they get too far out of sync.
