The compression ratio is generally what hurts the gas mileage on a turbo 
car.

The TBI intake isn't very good but overall it is a much better 
system.  It isn't necessarily that carbs are always bad, but the ones that 
came on these cars were...  With a TBI conversion you just swap the intake 
and exhaust manifolds and keep the engine the same.

Wiring(hood and dash), the TBI injector/airbox, and fuel tank, and 
probably the alternator (which should be changed anyway to the newer 
nipondenso alternator anywway) would also have to change.  It is a lot of work.

It would however be capable of something that the carb cars werent... 
Running well in both hot and cold weather without adjustments!
