The odometer drive mechanism has some little plastic gears that age and crystalize to brittle failure.
A few people have produced some nylon gears to replace them. Not much point in swapping for another used speedo, as the gears are likely to fail soon as well. Not too big a job to replace the gears. Some one will share with us WHERE to get the nylon gears.
