As usual, it's pretty hot here in north Florida and and I'm finally starting to
tackle the project of fixing my A/C. Luckily I've got a local friend that used
to own a garage that specialized in A/C repairs. He's working from his home now
but he still has the specialized equipment for A/C.

When it initially stopped working I had it looked at and it appeared to be a
bad compressor. I've been luckier in the past when it was only the clutch unit
that went bad, but this time it looks more involved (and expensive).

I was looking to get some feedback on a couple of things. First I wanted to see
if someone had any additional ideas on where to buy the best compressor that'll
give me the maximum performance for the longest time period. I don't want to
buy a cheaply made Chinese knockoff only to have it go bad after a short time.

The unit that fits my vehicle is a Denso 10PA17C with a single groove pulley.
I've done some research online and I found a few potential resources. These
were some of the main ones.

Looks pretty good with a choice of either rebuilt, new OEM & new 3rd party
house brand with a solid warranty and free shipping.

Has an extended lineup of six different options including brands like 4
Seasons, Spectra, HRM & Mapco.

Seems to one of the more established online suppliers.

I also wanted to see if there was a high quality 3rd party one like a Sanden or
a Seltec that could be adapted to fit as well (and what type of brackets or
parts would be needed). I found a Sanden listing for a 1994-95 Dakota with a
2.5 but I'm not sure what other differences there might be (hose connections,
etc). Any ideas on this subject?
