Nick,
Before throwing in the towel, there's a couple easy things you could try
first. I was told by the late Dave Grove (man that knew his stuff) years ago
to try to clear the gov by driving 30 miles an hour and try to shove the car in
park. Yes, he said park. He assured me it can't possibly go in, but this will
rattle things so much that if there's something stuck in the gov, it will losen
it. If anyone else had said that, I would have thought they were crazy, but
since it was Dave Grove, I went ahead and tried in. That wasn't my issue.
Then there's the tranny that won't upshift at the correct time. The one that
waits a while to go in to drive only to drop out of drive when the car drops
below about 48-50 mph. This is super common on the 413 tranny. With me, it
use to happen after I washed the engine. The kick-down lever and shift lever
on the tranny are in the same double shaft going in to the engine. Like the
hands on a clock. If they get corroded between each !
other, the kickdown lever gets stuck and thinks you're flooring the car all
the time, so it stays in the kick down mode. If this sounds like anything your
Spirit is doing, look at the levers on top of the enging and make sure the kick
down moves freely. I ruined a couple trannys this way. My tranny problems
always started like this. If I had known it was an external problem, I could
have loosened it up and saved the tranny.
Good luck. Otherwise, the LE doesn't have the same type of grill as the R/T
and ES models does it? My grill is broke like nearly every other one in
existance.

The trans is acting up, was told its the govenor, but have no time or space to
work on it.
It's been my daily driver for the last year and had no issues till the trans

I would prefer to sell it whole, but will part it out if I get enough interest.
