There are several vacuum lines going from the heater control to the heater box. In the middle is a rubber connector and that connector will deteriorate with time.
Trying to reconnect those vacuum lines when the connector is gone can be a MAJOR pain.. The lines are color coded but they don't match. I've put together a web page with pictures of both vacuum cables so you can figure out how to reconnect. I used short lengths of vacuum hose.
