I had this issue last Spring in my GLHS. My wife refused to ride in it until I found the source of the smell. I ended up finding a dead body after removing an interior body panel in the hatch area. I also found a nest in the insulation under the right rear speaker.

The smell of well-aged mouse poop and pee is quite pungent.
