I'd like to vote for minimal 2.6 too - it's the first release
with the .format() power of python3. Our UDP sending module
(https://bitbucket.org/hlauer/shinken2rrd) is using this.

We are testing an extension to graphite-carbon to receive the
packets at our site (instead of the little server included in 
the repo above) .
