Same problem for me when I use certain Unicode characters on my Mac.
Note that when you do something like this:
alert "Does this appear? #{insert_weird_unicode_character_here} No,
it does not"
...you get a series of backslashed characters. I don't know how Shoes
is supposed to handle Unicode, but doesn't Ruby not handle Unicode
well or something?
