I recommend unpacking the gem into your project as a workaround, like in a /vendor directory, easy if it does not need to be compiled. If it needs to be compiled, then you'll most likely need to compile them for each platform you wish to support, put them in your project, and then require them based on RUBY_PLATFORM.

Nope, unfortunately I get the same effect.
IRB says: Shoes::SettingUp: Shoes::SettingUp

then the window pops up and...well, does nothing.
