Pray tell why? This will cause issues with non-binary distributions. After 5 years on gentoo I've yet to see any deb installer for gentoo. The current wisdom is that you have to manually pick the deb archive apart and see if you can make use of any source material as any binary material is very unlikely to be compatible.
BTW, all of the shoe .run files that I've tried have worked perfectly. TIA, Roy
