Hello, I'm a final year engineering student with 2.5 years of experience working as a full stack developer. I have started learning Machine Learning but I confess that I'm not as skilled in it as the other applicants here. However I have worked with linux and os x quite extensively. I am also familiary with Javascript, Java, C++, Python, Obj C and Swift.
I was interested in the easy installation project (and I think that I might be able to complete it well as I'm regularly building and deploying applications on *nix systems. I can also investigate compilation on windows but truth be told it has been 3 years since I've worked with windows deeply. I was curious about the scope of the project since it's a vast one. What would be the expected deliverables of the project? I had be glad if the mentors can help me trim/modify the scope which would be suitable for GSoC period and which could be the reach goals. 1. Stable and nightly binary builds for all platforms or choosing two (linux + os x) for GSoC suffices? 2. Stable and nightly builds using the package managers (apt-get, yum, pip, conda, homebrew, linxubrew)? 3. When it comes to linux, are the maintainers expecting it to work on all linux distributions or for the GSoC period atleast on the popular ones (debian/ubuntu, redhat/centos, fedora)? 4. For Mac OS X, support only for the latest OS or all the way going back to 10.6 (Snow lepoard)? 5. Similary for windows, only for the lastest OS or all the way back to Win 7 (or XP?) 6. I've shortlisted some issues. Might help new folks get up and running before the binary packages are available. P.S. I have built ppa's before but they were only for personal use.
