David,
The clubs I had before were purchased before I started building clubs.  They were called Tour Gear and were basically Hawkeye wannabes (I think Hierko sells them).  When I originally built the TX-90's they were shorter than the Tour Gear set, which, by the way, had budget Aldila shafts in them.  I didn't like them shorter so I lengthed them>>problem is SW is about D-5 now, which could affect swingspeed and distance also.  Listed lofts are 1* different with the DFS's being stronger.  The TX-90 shafted set is easily more accurate>>course maybe I'm a better golfer now:-).  Also, the Tour Gear set isn't uniform>>sw's vary from D-1 to D-4, their not FLOed and the cpms do not consistently increase through the set.

Hi Tom, I just got TX-90's in and built a 5 iron that is drying now, IM curious, what graphite were you hitting in your previous set? And are both the same heads? could the difference in your loss of distance be due to weaker lofted heads? Shorter length? How about accuracy?
