One more bit of goose lore.  These geese DON'T migrate.

In the old days, before hunting limits, market hunters would
kill hundreds of geese a day as their livelihood (I'm sure you've
seen the pictures).

While bag limits were being proposed, the market hunters illegally
captured huge flocks (gaggles?) of geese and started farming them so
they would have a continual source of product to sell.

These geese, over several generations, were domesticated and
LOST their desire to migrate.  The golf course geese you see
are all descendants of "escapees" from these original flocks.

(About the only useful information I've ever obtained while
reading magazines in my doctor's office :-)
