Oops;

I have never said "butt trim only." Never. Not one time. I routinely tip
trimmed Mach's, but not a whole lot. The parallel tip section on Mach's
isn't especially long - about 3 - 4" as I recall, so there isn't a lot of
room to tip trim. But I had no qualms about tip trimming an inch or so and
often did.

What I routinely did when ordering Mach's was to order say 3 R-, 3 R, and 3
R+ for a set of nine irons. I checked freqs and tried to "fine tune" the
shafts to the freqs I was looking for. If there were outliers I'd either
bring them back (I didn't live far from PC's offices) or I'd use one or two
I usually had on hand.

Mach's nearly always came in within specs, had very little discernable
spine, and always played well in the sets. Same goes for the wood shafts.
