One last comment on my position on this subject. Since the torque deflection is negligible during the down swing you must conclude that torque has nothing to do with the recovery of the head back to square. I have also gleaned from this discussion that some think that a softer torque shaft or higher torque rated shaft would recover faster. If there was any recovery involved at all the softer or higher torque rating would recover more slowly because the torsional frequency is lower then the low torque or torque stiff shaft. Alan's concern about the current torque rating system is right on.
