Gary / Burgess / All, I live down here not a snowbird but a tax paying resident. Stay away from Calabash and EastPort. Calabash is a piece of crap and never will be a good track ana Eastport is more or less a par 3, about 7 or 8 of the holes are REAL SHORT and the remaining holes are not much better. most courses have allready done their greens so they shouldn't have any problems in that area. However you must remember one thing about down here it's hot and "VERY" humid. If you or any body in your party has or even thinks they have Arthritis "STAY HOME" unless they/you are on a Doctors Prescription. One course that is a REAL NICE track is called "THE WELLMAN CLUB" it's in Johnsonville about a 1 hour drive from downtown MB. It is Most likely the best course down here and most like the best price. Locals can play it for $20.00 with a cart during the weekdays and $25.00 on weekends. Or you can walk it if you want. The last time I played it it was in the top 10 courses for upkeep, playability and their greens of "ALL" courses in the MB area. I'd stay away from all Jack N's courses and Carolina Shores. Carolina Shores has 97 Sand Traps on the course and I think, because I was in every one of them, 97 Ponds/water. No Fun Losing 9 TO !0 Golf Balls when you are a 7 Hcp and shooting in the low 80's and winning low gross. Another well keep seceret is Pineland, up in Loris, you can also walk that one anytime of the day plus I think it's only in the $20 range also. The first hole is a real nice par 5, 587 yards. But I'd stay away from "ALL" of the higher priced courses. Another thing to watch out for down here is the way they part you from your money. At your motel they will tell you it's only $5.00 extra to play a course but when you get to the course the people at the course hit you up for another $25 to $45.00 for the cart, and thats not Another $12.50 to $22.50 per person that's "EACH"
Have fun dodging the tourists because you now is one.

Burgess, I'm heading down to MB on July 4th for a week or so. I've been checking around for courses like this, and, I've seen a few of them recommended a number of times.
One is Possum Trot in North Myrtle Beach. A few others were Eastport Golf Club, The Wizard, Sandpiper Bay, and, Calabash Golf Links. I've checked them out at myrtlebeachgolf.com and golfdesk.com . They all seem to fit the bill for me. I'll probably choose the ones closest to my condo.
