Speaking of all woods, I have been mulling over the question of the relative merits of long irons vs woods vs the wood-iron hybrids. I am not aware of a generally accepted name for the latter clubs. Golfsmith calls them QuickStrikes; golfclubreview calls them 'hybrid iron/woods' and traces the lineage back to the TaylorMade Rescue.  I believe Jonathan Kaye used one for his 250-yard second shot to the par-5 18th in the final round of the Buick Classic, which gave him an easy two-putt to force a playoff.

Any general thoughts on the pros & cons? I feel comfortable recommending belly putters now, but haven't got that kind of confidence in this particular 3-way debate.

TIA,
