I've used brushes to but didn't think they did a very good job and they wear out to fast.
Thought about a stone but I am afraid a grinding stone would make the hosel to big and uneven.
It don't take long with sandpaper, I cut a bunch all at the same time and it's cheap.

Too much work! Buy a 3/8" power tube brush, chuck it in electric hand drill and run it in the hosel! Really tough job (like cleaning epoxy gunked hosel) use a round grind stone! These are for die grinders and  will fit electric drill or Dremel tool.

I love work but hate making it hard!
