I find that some clubs where no epoxy was used have ferrule creped away from
the hosel.
Here's a solution I have found to to be simple and a permanent fix for ferrule "creep".
Save a 1" sanding belt that is "worn out" and cut a strip 1/4" wide (keeping it as a belt). Move the ferrule up the shaft and use this narrow belt on your machine to rough up the shaft 1/4" above the hosel. Clean with acetone and apply epoxy to this area, push the ferrule down the shaft to the hosel and wipe away epoxy squeeze out. For this job you CAN use 5 minute epoxy.
Another ferrule tip: if you have a ferrule/hosel gap it can be easily filled with a paste made by mixing acetone with ferrule "lace" (the stuff that comes off a ferrule when turing it on a linen belt). Mix with a flat toothpick in a GLASS OR PORCELAIN DISH. The kind you are served melted butter in when you order lobster. A little acetone a pinch of "lace" add more of either till you have a smooth paste. Apply with toothpick, allow to dry (just a few minutes) and turn on a linen belt. This also works on cracked ferrules. Paste will dry in the dish and you can reconstitute it by adding acetone.
This is a $3 job, sent cash I want to have a lobster dinner.
