RK, I'd guess your 'puter has a USB port. They are rectangular shaped, ROUGHLY 1/2" by 1/4" and are usually marked with a symbol that looks a little like a devil's trident.
Also, look to see if you have USB drivers installed on your system. For me it is Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and click on the System icon. From there, click on the Device Manager tab and you should see a "Universal Serial Bus" listed. Click on it to expand, if you want to check out the driver details.
If you do need a card, check eBay and you can get one for peanuts.
