Re: old club shaft removal
I do that sort of thing--restoration of old wood and metal shafted clubs. I'm willing
to bet a $100+ Fugiwhatever shaft that the club does indeed have a pin holding the
head to the shaft. Wire wheel the hosel to clean the rust and you may be able to spot
the pin--about 1/8" D. an inch or so down from the shaft end of the hosel. If you
can't spot it easily, use a magnifying glass and it should show up. If that still
doesn't work, iron filings and a magnet (7th grade science experiment) may allow you
to spot it. I've got sveral other tricks to find it but try these first. I've also
come across a few of these old buggers that had more than one pin. You mention a long
hosel which mght indicate more than one pin. The fact that you can turn the shaft/head
slightly tells me there is a pin-probably only one. Use a 1/8" punch to drive out the
pin. When you start to put it together, let me know as there is a special technique to
use so as not to destroy the antique value of the club w!
hich, by the way, is relatively little.
Hopethis helps!
