Some quick off the wall thoughts: I was just in my kitchen and saw some possibilities,
Do you have a pull out cutting board? If so how about a small LW vice that actually clamps to the board? Another thought: About about getting a piece of plywood and making a table top about the size of you kitchen sink. Tp the bottom of this attach some plywood legs that closely match the sink walls. You could place this in your sink and it would be fairly stable. Subsequently, there's no vise so even if I had a shaft clamp, I don't think I can use it well. I speculate I have a sharp blade that will be able to remove the old grip. I don't think I need a hook blade, since most of these clubs are steel-shafted. How critical is complete removal of the old layer(s) of tape? I'm thinking I may not be able to remove the old tape completely. Since space is a little cramped, I'm planning to use water-activated tape, since fumes from using solvents won't ventilate quickly enough. I'm trying to figure out if there are creative ways I can fulfill the functions of a shaft clamp and vise by using other things typically found around the house (or namely a city apartment). I'll probably spring for the $2 from GS for the rubber clamp, but I haven't shopped for a vise at all. Any other thoughts? Thanks for reading. (I may x-post to rsg and one other board at a later date). --- Incoming mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
