This concept may work, but the only real way to test it in my opinion is to have a set of irons designed and made that would meet the weight requirements while maintaining the centers of gravity necessary for consistency. Just adding weight in itself can be detrimental to calculations and performance characteristics.
 
I'm not sure any pros will ever buy into this concept. As, much of their game relies on improvisation and abbreviated golf swings and shots. The single length may deter them from these options. However the high handicapper may benfit by the accuracy a shorter club length could bring to their longer irons.
 
Interesting idea, But maybe I'm just to old of a dog to accept.

There has been a pretty good discussion going on at FGI about single length irons, and I am starting to think this might be a really good idea for mid-high handicap golfers.  The positives are many for a single length set of clubs: same swing plane for all irons, single frequency for all clubs (no slope considerations), exact MOI and swingweight match for all clubs, same total weight for all clubs, one ball position for all irons, larger head on the lower lofted irons (i.e. 3-5 irons), etc...  Dave T. has done the math comparing single length iron distances vs. traditional irons, and there really is a minimal affect on distance by going to single length (at say 37").  Tim Hewitt at Myostrichgolf is planing to offer component iron heads that will all have the same size, weight,and lie for all the irons, allowing clubmakers to easily build single length iron sets.&! nbsp; Can anyone think of why this concept should not work, other than the fact that no OEM will do it, and thus no pros will play clubs at single length?
