I'm a distributor for a clubhead company called Ashton Golf. Just
updated the pages at clubmaker-online to include their new X1D
fairway wood (a deep face version of their current fairway wood) and
the new MS5 driver.
The MFS5 is a nifty design. Five designs actually. They were going to
develop one clubhead with interchangeable body parts but the foundry
told them it would be too expensive.
They went with one basic design and made small changes in each.
There's a Std (Standard), a HW (heavyweight) 207g head, a SL
(superlight) 192g , a DR (draw bias) and a HL (High launch). These
are all forged designs and they're really nice. Very clean,
traditional design, no paint fill on the bottom, beautiful gloss
black paint. Lower profile design, sort of a pear shaped head like a
Titleist. It's a fantastic product and it's priced at $109.
They also make a beautiful 460 CC cast driver head called the X1.
Same clean lines, really nice polished face and sole, and same gloss
black paint treatment, deep face made of something they call MolyTi.
They do quite well on the long drive circuit with the X1 and it's
probably my favorite driver head.
The cast heads cost quite a bit more to produce and are priced at $169.
The fairway woods are beauties, too, and are priced at just under $50.
