I may have confused you, ( I am good at that) but I am not changing OS's. I have win2kpro on my main puter and XP home? on the laptop. My problem dealt with compatibility of the various versions of Office and my 2 different Os. But like you mention, I probably have resolved the question. I like the idea of the of a registry clean up from M/S. After we install and un install enough programs, that registry can become entangled. I will take a look at that. Thanks for the point out.

I'm glad to see you solved the problem. I didn't notice this when I made my post. However, the use of cheap hard drives and Ghost for backkup is still a great idea. I'd hate to think what I'd lose if my main hard drive went down with no backup.

I have had a different version of Access loaded ... as you describe ... with no real problems. You will not get as good integration between the programs if they are not at the same version level -- but, my guess is that everything you want to do with it will be fine.
Since upgrading to my new computer in December, I've been trying to hold off of the Office suite -- and am using the OpenOffice.org product, a free productivity suite available at (you guessed it) www.openoffice.org
It has been really good for all I've wanted thus far ... no Access equivalent though.
