Subject: ShopTalk: Titleist driver

I just finished examining the new Titleist 905 series driver. Interesting. They bored out the hosel to what appears to be about .350" and inserted an aluminum sleeve, with an I.D. of .335". The reasoning is that by reaming out the old-style hosel they could then redistribute the weight saved. That, in addition to a tungsten weight installed in the bottom center of the sole provides, according to the blurb in the attached pamphlet, will get the golfer a higher ball flight. Hmmm  . . . I hit the 10.5 deg head w/YS-6 shaft and didn't hit it any higher than a 10.5 983K w/stock R flex shaft. This must be Titleist's response to TM's Quad.

Also today, I rec'd an updated GS catalog. Guess what's in that? Right-o. A GS driver w/4 movable weights. Wow! What will someone think of next . . . a driver made of wood?
