If Tom touts shorter drivers, does he make a line of heavier graphite
shafts, or is the only option steel? Are there good alternatives for heavy
graphite?

Colin:
How did that 43" driver work out for your guy? (Bernie would call
that a 9 wood) :-)
I recall a 43" "Hero" driver that Ralph Maltby suggested building in
a book I've got from 1990 or so. One of the other online discussion
groups' mentions Tom Wishon is touting shorter drivers in his new
book, too. (haven't read it yet, but supposed to be excellent).
I also remember bombing a few really nice drives some time ago with
my 43-44 inch Callaway.
Should I dump my 46" driver that I hit 300 yds straight twice a year,
jump up and down and buy rounds of drinks like I've just made a hole
in one but hit 300 yards straight out of bounds the rest of the time?
