Hi John, He just picked up the club yesterday afternoon. I recommended reshafting for a lighter flex. The bitterness of poor quality (and stiff flex) remain long after the sweetness of cheap price is forgotten.
Rain and cold continuing today with a forcast HIGH of 48ºF. My neighbours arrive home today from an almost 8 month holiday. I will let you know. Tomorrow will be sunny, warmer and golf will resume. Your 46" Driver reminds me of another client a few years ago. He went for reshafting irons, but vehemently defended his driver- "When I hit my Driver..... He said this often enough that I asked him how many GOOD shots does he get per round with it. "One, maybe two." I then told him I rested my case. He asked why, so I told him, "If your Driver fitted you, you should average 90% or better." He wanted the old shaft preserved, but the reshaft made him forget the old non-performing shaft. (Bernie would call that a 9 wood) :-) I recall a 43" "Hero" driver that Ralph Maltby suggested building in a book I've got from 1990 or so. One of the other online discussion groups' mentions Tom Wishon is touting shorter drivers in his new book, too. (haven't read it yet, but supposed to be excellent). I also remember bombing a few really nice drives some time ago with my 43-44 inch Callaway. Should I dump my 46" driver that I hit 300 yds straight twice a year, jump up and down and buy rounds of drinks like I've just made a hole in one but hit 300 yards straight out of bounds the rest of the time?
