Jim,
Welcome aboard! Regarding the FAQ on club care, I suggest you get Tom
Wishon's book "The Search for the Perfect Golf Club", there is a section
on club maintenance at the end, but more than that you'll end up with a
very good understanding of how clubs work. This book is a must have for
golfers.
You should also get a copy of the Golfworks catalog. It is free at
http://www.golfworks.com/ . It has a section that outlines the clubhead
refurbishment they offer. This should give you some ideas.

I am new to this fine area.
I have a set of clubs that I am restoring: Spalding-left-handed stainless.
They have great-sentimental value. They are Stainless cavity back heads.
Needs:
--Regripping
--Perhaps sandblast the grooved clubface area like some Ping's that I have
heard about.
--Perhaps repaint the lettering/numbering (Spalding 9). Can spray paint
work or some type of fingernail polish style application.
--Scotch brite the cavity back portion and paint black/or sandblast the
cavity and primer and paint black.
--Spray on lacquer or something to help prevent rust on the True Temper
Shafts.
I thought that if I sandblasted the whole iron portion that it would look
ugly and change club swing characteristics: wind, grabbing on dirt. It
would be a quick fix, but not an elegant one. I like the polished steel
look.
Done:
--Used very fine steel wool to remove the few spots of rust from shafts.
--Used a small steel brush to remove years of rust.
I have an air compressor. An arc welder. Have experience in automotive
restoration. Cut off wheel etcetera.
Is there some type of FAQ so that I can take proper care of my clubs in the
future? I have been fixing up some of my son's clubs.
Sincerely, Jim Farquhar
