Thanks for all the replies. I was rather hoping that someone had invented a non toxic spray that you could apply and watch the tape fall off into neat piles Alas, it doesn’t appear to be so. Back to the heat gun, hooked broad knife, a couple of new tricks and a new supply of patience.     Thanks again all Graham
