ShopTalk: Shaft creep

Does anyone have a good solution for pulling shafts after your rubber clamp has
undergone numerous pullings and the shaft begins to creep under pressure? I've
tried cleaning & it helps but thought maybe someone has a better way to renew 
the
gripping power of the clamp.
