Bob,
I'm in general agreement with your simplistic approach.  Though for loft you could probably just use the protractor that comes with the unit.

I had a "Green Machine" that I got through barter.  I wanted to be able to measure loft and face angle for woods.  It turns out that it is almost impossible get these readings, because there is no standard way to "sole" the head. I used it 99% of the time to determine loft on irons.  Since I dynamically adjust lie angle on irons, the only time I measured lie was when building putters.  Needless to say the Green Machine was overkill and I found a good home for it.

I couldn't find your product, however this unit htttp://www.golfsmith.com/products/240808 got a good review and is on sale

Hi All:
Have any of you used either one of the Golfsmith inexpensive loft & lie gauges on this page? link below.

I recently purchased an electronic digital angle gauge, and I am looking for a fixture that can hold a club in the proper position, so I can accurately  measure the loft on clubs.
When I retired I sold my Mitchell L / L , and I am looking for a way to check loft on
clubs.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Bob
