Hi Folks, Commissioners: If this is too much of a commercial, feel free to reject my post but please let me know.
Years ago I ran a bunch of shaft tests with a spin indexer using collets to clamp the shaft. My wife wants me to get rid of things I no longer use so if anyone out there would like a spin indexer and some collets at a reasonable price let me know. Recently I had a couple of customers contact me about the Digi Flex clamping system. I ran some tests using Steve Boccieri’s Digi Flex unit in Scottsdale and found significant frequency variations with steel shafts based on clamping pressure. The Digi Flex is very well made, rugged and has an accurate electronics unit. The biggest problem is the inflexibility of the clamp and the clamping pressure variations with variations in the shaft diameters and minor adjustment to the toggle clamp. I traded a customer’s Digi Flex unit for a Club Scout analyzer. I played with the DF clamp for a while and it appeared it could easily be converted to a pneumatic clamping system in place of the toggle clamp. The mod was pretty straight forward and using opposing V blocks in place of the normal U blocks the modified unit easily clamped any diameter from a gripped club to a raw shaft down to the 0.335” diameters encountered during zone profiling with no setup changes whatsoever. If anyone is interested contact me directly. Cheers, John Kaufman [email protected] -- Shoptalk ** Sponsored by the new Aldila Voodoo. Learn more at http://aldilavoodoo.com/
