Good point about the asymmetric nature of the flow too - I am not using DNAT, so it makes perfect sense the destination address to be the one of the eth1 interface. I will be implementing a quick test over the weekend anyway, to verify all this, so if there is something odd/wrong/I don't like etc. I am sure you will read it in here. I also hope the test I will be performing won't turn the same way as it did with my network latency test though!
