Not *just* the firewall maybe.

I noticed the following

at every client on the wired-LAN,

        ip route
                default via 10.0.0.1 dev enp4s0
                10.0.0.0/24 dev enp4s0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.0.7

at a connected phone, on the WiFi LAN

        ip route
                10.0.1.0/24 dev wlan0 proto kernel scope link src 10.0.1.150

It appears to be missing a default route.

Which is SUPPOSED to be set by dhcpd's service of

        option routers 10.1.1.1;

I've tried adding

        ip route add default via 10.0.1.0 dev wlan0

in a terminal opened on the phone, but if I try to do it with `sudo`, it
reboots the silly thing.

So need to figure out how to get that route manually ONTO the phone, to see if
it makes a difference.
