I tried to install the .deb (I'm on Debian sid) but it ask me to install totem.

I suppose that one can use other players (e.g. mplayer) to play videos.

Is it possible to remove the totem dependence?
Can I manually remove it from the .deb?
Is there some other reason of having totem except for playing videos?
