Hi Adam, thanks for your work!
Now, I'll let you in on a little secret: due to a bug it actually *is*
possible to import RAW+JPEG pairs in Shotwell 0.11 if you drag in files
rather than folders:
http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4079
Re-importing images as paired pictures seem to work this way but the
camera JPEG will not always be shown even if camera is set to default
developer:
A few points:
1. We've recently fixed a bug which caused Shotwell to ignore the
Developer preference in 0.11:
http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4065
So I'd strongly suggest that you build from git master rather than use
0.11.0 if you want to experiment with RAW+JPEG in Shotwell today.
2. I tried importing RAW+JPEG from the filesystem again today and found
that the trick I described here works both when you import in place and
when you copy to the filesystem. If the RAW and JPEG photos are in the
Shotwell trash, however, it won't work - Shotwell will simply resurrect
the RAW photo from the trash when you import.
A few comments on the steps you described:
1. I set default raw developer to camera.
2. I disabled watch library directory for new files
3. I trashed Images
Do you mean that you moved the images to the Shotwell trash, or that you
moved the associated files to the GNOME desktop trash? Unfortunately
this is ambiguous.
4. and tried to re-import a few images in two ways:
4.a. drag in images of original folder. images will be paired but
alternately the shotwell developed JPEG and camera JPEG will be shown
I don't understand what you mean by "alternately the shotwell developed
JPEG and camera JPEG will be shown".
4.b. completely moved files and folder to a different partition and
removed them from library directory. then dragged in images of that
folder applying copy to library option. images will be paired but only
the shotwell developed JPEG will be shown.
This could be a consequence of http://redmine.yorba.org/issues/4065.
Again, I think you should now build from git master if you can. Cheers -
adam
